Authors Meet in Asunción To Discuss Upcoming Translation
Emily Creigh and Martín Almada, co-authors of Journey to the Heart of the Condor, met several times in November 2017 regarding the imminent translation of their book and its publication in Paraguay. We are hoping to launch the Spanish version in Paraguay in March or April of 2018.
Creigh undertook the trip to arrange for said publishing, get existing books into the English-language bookstore in Asunción (appropriately called Librería Books), and broaden the base for their upcoming Kickstarter campaign. The Kickstarter campaign, whose goal is to raise money for the translation, has been set for the beginning of 2018. Stay tuned to hear all about it and the cool rewards we’ve come up with.
We are happy to report that we have achieved all three goals!
English books will be available for the Christmas sale at Librería Books in Asunción.
A local publisher has agreed to publish the Spanish version. Cayetano Quattrocchi of Arandurá Press — arandurá is Guaraní for “toward the truth” — handles distribution as well and has experience with book fairs in the area. (At this time it appears that we will focus on Paraguay and not attempt the Buenos Aires Book Fair in 2018.)
Finally, thanks to old and new friends in Asunción and passing through, many more people know about the book and its aim to benefit the Museum of Memories and the Celestina Pérez de Almada Foundation. two nonprofits run by Dr. Almada and his wife, journalist María Stella Cáceres.
Mission accomplished! Things seem to be in place. Now we just have to take a deep breath, drink some eggnog, and wait for the translation…
Until then, Happy Holidays from the folks at Casa Satori!
