Green Valley Library to Host Author Emily Creigh

Date:
Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Emily Creigh, co-author with Dr. Martín Almada of the parallel memoir Journey to the Heart of the Condor, will give a presentation on the book at the Joyner-Green Valley Library in Green Valley, AZ, from 2–3pm on Tuesday, February 28th.

Emily will display photos from her Peace Corps service in Paraguay, screen her book trailer from our website (Casa Satori), do a special reading from the book, sing a song or two with the audience, and answer questions.

Journey to the Heart of the Condor has been out for a year now, and although sales have slowed, Casa Satori continues to receive positive feedback from readers. In January a review was posted on the Peace Corps Worldwide website (here), and just last week Emily received a Facebook message from a returned Peace Corps volunteer (Paraguay, 2009–11) who said the book was “really wonderful, funny, heartrending and brave” and “captured perfectly the life of a PCV in Paraguay.” (This was most gratifying for Emily to hear!) The RPCV went on to write “the two stories complement one another well, and paint a far more complex picture of life in Paraguay (and Paraguay-US relations) than either would alone.” Thank you, C.O. for that!

Once again, we are grateful to everyone who has bought, read, and appreciated the book. Dr. Almada is still fighting to receive compensation from his government for the medical attention he needs for his PTSD; every book we sell helps him get treatment. Thank you.
